Between Walls

After reading physician William Carlos Williams' poem about a hospital "Between Walls", we did a free write about Burroughs Elementary School, what it looked like, sounded like, felt like and then wrote a poem that could only have 16 words (although some people needed a couple more.)

3rd Grade 105

Juan A.

A bird just
maybe

Enter a school
and

Grass is a
cat

Kids glass door
made

of wood.

Isabella B.

School

I see flowers
trees

I see backs
of

Heads, outside
play-ground

Play laugh time
out

Oh, oh lets
go in

Margaret V.

And again and again and again…..

It looks like
school

from the door
it

has lot of
windows

From the side
has

lot of windows
again

Andrea J.
Burroughs school looks like…

It looks pretty
outside

room 105 has

I see kids with
backpacks

I love school
rooms.

4th Grade 002

Alex R.

The students look
like Soldiers

Charging to the
door

I never want
to transfer

I like Burroughs.

Leanne C.

Looks made a lot
behind
upstairs
of the playground
of Burroughs
like when picture
up walls.

The Bloody Wall of Burroughs School

The bloody wall
is

Located on the
Jagged

Stairs off the
Dark
